Metz has been built over the centuries. A city of character proud of its 3000 years of history. The city offers guided tours, train or audio guides to learn all the details about the old thermal baths, the stained glass windows of Saint-Etiennes Cathedral, the palaces and mansions of the Renaissance or the imperial area. The Sainte-Croix Hill will lead you to the old streets of the medieval city.
At night, this heritage is highlighted with more than 13,000 lights. An environment which allows atypical night walks, parties and restaurants.
Metz is a city of art. The gardens allow you to discover the botanical art: The Récollet for medieval art, the Esplanade and à la francaise gardens, the Regatta and the ramparts of the ancient citadel. More recently, the Centre Pompidou-Metz is the delight of lovers of contemporary and modern art.
Metz restores you with pleasant holiday houses and cuisine. Mirabelle is the emblem of the region but there is other specialties : the famous quiche Lorraine, the potée with smoked meats or the pâté lorrain. For dessert you can eat the Paris-Metz or the „boullet de Metz“ which consists of a chocolate biscuit, almond paste and roasted hazelnuts. The vineyards will also offer tasty wines.
